Entry-Way Sign
In July 2020, we completed the installation of the Santa Fe entry-way sign between
N. Guadalupe St. and St. Francis Drive. The sign, a multi-year project funded by the New Mexico Clean and Beautiful program of the New Mexico Tourism Department, was given to the City of Santa Fe as a gift from KSFB. Our sincerest thanks to New Mexico Department of Transportation, Sketchbook Studio, LLC proprietor George Lawrence, Babcock Construction, Mayor Alan Webber, City Manager Jarel La Pan Hill, the Environmental Services Division and the New Mexico Film Office for their support in completing this project.
The installation of the entry-way sign was phase one – now, we’re working on landscaping the area. Please consider donating toward this project and our other great programs!
Cleanups
We host two annual neighborhood litter cleanups: the Great American Cleanup in the spring, and Toss No Mas in the fall. These events are a great way to give back to your community and make a visible difference in the appearance of our city! We also offer support for volunteer-led cleanups on a limited basis.
Adopt A Median
We run the Adopt-A-Median program to landscape and maintain a portion of the city’s medians (approximately 50 out of the 500 total medians in the city). The program was overhauled in 2019 to improve safety and sustainability, and all current adopters have completed safety and orientation training and must follow strict reporting requirements to ensure proper median maintenance.
MASTER’s Program Early College Charter High School
We partner with the MASTER’s Program students each semester to maintain and improve public lands, and complete beautification projects like anti-graffiti murals and rain garden installations!
Composting in Senior Centers
In early 2019, we introduced a composting program at the Mary Esther Gonzales Senior center to reduce food waste going to the landfill. The program is supported by volunteer supervisors who help oversee the lunch hour and educate residents on the benefits of composting. We hope to one day expand the program to the rest of the City’s senior centers!
Cigarette Litter Prevention Program
Thanks to a grant from Keep America Beautiful, we’ve installed cigarette litter urns in high-traffic areas all around the City. Cigarette butts remain the most littered item in the U.S. and across the globe – these urns help reduce litter and prevent harmful chemicals from entering our waterways. See if you can spot one the next time you walk around a city park!
In 2015, we purchased the Red Caboose (located in the Railyard Park). Keep Santa Fe Beautiful has a 25-year agreement with the city to keep the red caboose at its current location. The caboose is accessible on foot during daylight hours via the Acequia Trail along the Santa Fe Railyard Park.
